Child Care Program

The Child Care Program exists to provide support to families dealing with the many issues that arise when leaving an unsettling situation. The Child Care Worker gives mothers the opportunity to talk about common behaviours in their children in the aftermath of leaving an abusive relationship. This is done during Parent Group with discussions on the effects of domestic violence on children, through suggestions on parenting strategies and by exploring healthy coping strategies for children.

The Child Care Worker is present in the shelter 5 days a week and is available to the women and children for one-on-one support and for any questions or concerns that may arise. Emergency child care is also available.
